Heirloom | Chef Sarah Bodner
In the second installment of our Heirloom series, we are honored to spotlight Chef Sarah Bodner, who graciously shares her most cherished heirloom: a recipe book lovingly crafted by her grandmother. It not only served as Sarah’s culinary compass during her formative years in the kitchen but also reignited her passion and courage to reenter the culinary world as an adult. Now, it inspires her to help other women do the same. Here’s to breaking barriers and generational empowerment in every sphere – thank you for sharing your story, Chef Sarah.
A Space For Our Female Chefs to Shine
Two of our talented chefs, Micole Rivera Suárez at NOVA Southeastern University and Amy Clippard at Southeast Missouri State, recently attended the Compass Group Women in Culinary Showcase to meet with other female culinarians across Compass.
The Showcase included several speakers and networking opportunities and finished with a culinary exhibition, where Micole and Amy demonstrated their creative best. They teamed up with other chefs to create several globally inspired dishes, such as braised chicken thighs, arepas, jollof rice, vegan chorizo phyllo samosas, and more.
The Women in Culinary Showcase is making a positive impact in an industry where only 22.5% of chefs are women. We’re proud to help strengthen female chef networks, expand career trajectories, and encourage our female chefs to continue trailblazing a way to a more inclusive future.
Platforming Our Best and Brightest Minds in the Women’s History Month Panel
To celebrate female leaders across Chartwells, associates came together for an empowering discussion that platformed our female leaders, who shared insights and tips on championing change.
Panelists from all different areas of the business came together to share their insights and career journeys. The discussion included several tangible strategies for building supportive networks, empowering allies, and investing in opportunities for women.
