PURCHASE, NY, June 18, 2025 – Manhattanville University is excited to announce a new partnership with Chartwells Higher Education, a leading provider of dining services in the higher education space. Starting this summer, Chartwells is the exclusive dining services provider for the university, bringing innovative and diverse culinary options to the campus community.
Chartwells is renowned for its commitment to sustainability, quality, and student satisfaction. Their approach to dining services includes locally sourced ingredients, customizable meal plans, and a variety of dietary options to meet the needs of all students, faculty, and staff.

This new dining partnership is part of a strategic effort to continue the momentum and growth at Manhattanville both in student enrollment and in external events. Nestled in the heart of scenic Westchester Country (yet only 30 miles from Midtown Manhattan), Reid Castle, located on the campus of Manhattanville University, is the perfect spot for overnight camps, film shoots, business meetings, conferences, corporate retreats and picnics, panel discussions, dinners, galas, fundraising walks, and more. Reid Castle is also a favorite spot for brides and grooms for the perfect fairytale wedding.
Originally built in 1892, Reid Castle offers a beautiful, historic setting combined with modern amenities and conveniences. Manhattanville University is close to major airports, train stations, and interstates, making it easily accessible to all.
An iconic venue rooted in history
Designed by the renowned architect Stanford White, Reid Castle’s history of hosting events began with the marriage of New York Tribune owner Whitelaw Reid and his wife, Elizabeth. In 1888, the pair envisioned transforming their country home into the legendary architectural and landscaping landmark it remains today.
Reid Castle features a marbled reception hall and grand rooms inspired by French chateaux, evoking the timeless sophistication of the Gilded Age. Surrounding the castle are grounds designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the mastermind behind New York City’s Central Park. Reid Castle also has beautiful views of the Long Island sound.
A versatile space
Reid Castle offers an array of rooms to meet the unique needs of business events, including:
- The West Room: A spacious venue accommodating up to 180 guests with multi-directional seating, AV capabilities, and customizable lighting.
- The Ophir Dining Room and Annex: Ideal for gatherings of up to 90 guests, featuring breakout space, AV capabilities, multi-directional seating, and access to the patio and rose garden.
- The East Library: Perfect for up to 90 attendees, with AV capabilities and directional seating.
- The President’s Dining Room: An intimate setting for up to 18 guests, with AV capabilities.
Each event at Reid Castle is overseen by a dedicated team handling AV needs, logistics, and facilities. A full range of catering services and menu choices are available for events of any size.
